Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., won re-election Tuesday night, Fox News reports, despite a federal criminal probe that includes questions about her immigration status and a second inquiry into her financial disclosures.

The result. Fox projects Omar defeated Republican John Nagel, a 30-year state trooper, in Minnesota's 5th District, one of the most Democratic seats in the country. She has held it since 2018.

The probes. Fox says agents from Homeland Security Investigations raided Omar's Washington, D.C., home on Oct. 12 and took her phone, passport and computer, and that investigators also obtained her DNA. Fox first reported that she faces an investigation into whether she or her father lied on her immigration paperwork when applying for citizenship. Her sister, Sahra Noor, spoke voluntarily with investigators afterward, per Fox.

The name question. Fox says court filings from the U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C. referred to her as "Ilhan Omar Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Omar," and that sources told it Ilhan Omar is not her real name. That revived old claims about her 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen. Fox says a federal investigation into those claims opened in 2016 under President Obama and was closed in 2021 under President Biden, per a source.

Her response. Omar has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged. She told The Nation, "Trump has an unhealthy and creepy obsession with me." Her spokesperson called the brother-marriage claim a "baseless, disgusting conspiracy theory" and "a desperate political smear."

The campaign backdrop. Fox says Omar returned to Minnesota after the raid, voted, met with the Somali community at a Minneapolis mall and asked supporters for donations to fund her legal fight. The week before the election she campaigned with streamer Hasan Piker.

What we could not check. Fox called the race on projections. We have not seen the final vote count. The claims about her name and her marriage come from Fox's unnamed sources and court filings as Fox describes them; we have not seen the filings.
