Breitbart posted a video of a protest outside a new Harry Potter store in London on Wednesday.

What the video shows. Footage shared on social media shows demonstrators outside the store on Oxford Street holding signs reading "Protect Trans Lives" and "Stop Funding Trans Erasure." They chanted into megaphones: "Trans rights! Gay rights! One struggle! One fight!" The clip runs 2 minutes 43 seconds. The group urged Harry Potter fans not to go in, because transgender rights activists have criticized author J.K. Rowling for backing the biological definition of sex.

The line. Breitbart, citing Variety, says the queue to get in wrapped around the block and shoppers entered anyway, paying little attention to the protest.

Both sides. One trans activist told Variety: "Considering the impact that J.K Rowling has on trans rights, it would be a disappointment if trans people weren't here to have their voices heard." A store spokesperson told Variety: "We support everyone's right to the peaceful expression of personal viewpoints and look forward to a day full of magic."

The store. Breitbart describes it as a 21,000-square-foot, two-floor shop and the UK's largest official Harry Potter store.

The background. Breitbart says Rowling recently said her political views "haven't changed" despite "an avalanche of death, rape, and torture threats," and called transgender activism in the 21st century "elitist." It says last year she set up the J.K. Rowling Women's Fund, privately funded, to help women with legal cases tied to sex-based rights and single-sex spaces.
