Video: Sen. Eric Schmitt Tells Ingraham Democrats Are 'About Absolute Control, Not About Debate' and Urges Republicans to Turn Out

A Senate Republican makes his closing argument for the midterms, in a clip Breitbart posted from Tuesday night.

The setting. Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri spoke on the Fox News Channel's "The Ingraham Angle." We summarize the transcript Breitbart published and did not watch the video ourselves.

The charge. Host Laura Ingraham asked why Elon Musk is such a threat to Democrats. Schmitt answered that Democrats "want to tear down success" and are "willing to destroy democracy to save democracy." He traced the hostility to Musk's DOGE work and a rescissions package aimed at USAID, and mentioned the firebombing of Tesla dealerships.

The warning. Schmitt said it "won't stop with Elon Musk, and it won't stop with President Trump." He listed people he said could be targeted next: those who buy MAGA hats, Catholics who attend traditional Latin Mass, and people who object to "radical trans ideology" at school board meetings. "It is about absolute control. It's not about debate. It's not about winning the argument," he said.

On Michigan. Schmitt called Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed "a radical, who hates America" and cited talk of "show trials."

The ask. Schmitt said Democrats now "want to pack the Senate," add Supreme Court justices, and want to make asking for ID illegal in places like California. "We're not arguing anymore about marginal tax rates. We're arguing about big stuff," he said. He saw "still time for persuasion" but said "this really is about turnout."

Note for readers: Breitbart's transcript of one phrase in this list is garbled, so we left it out. These are Schmitt's characterizations of his opponents, not findings. We have not seen a Democratic response in the clip post. To hear him in full, watch at the link below.
