Video: Mamdani Tells NPR the Midterms Are 'a Message to Wield' Power 'as Aggressively as Possible,' Aimed at House Progressives
A Breitbart clip post from NPR's election coverage. We relied on Breitbart's written account, not the video. The comments are New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's.
Breitbart posted a 57-second clip of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Democrat, on NPR's election coverage Tuesday.
The question. Co-host Juana Summers asked how aggressive House progressives should be in using their new power if Democrats win the chamber.
His answer. Mamdani said: "Tonight is a message to wield it as aggressively as possible."
Earlier in the segment. Breitbart quotes him saying: "America has elected a new generation of leadership tonight, with a mandate to lower their cost of living, build, not bomb, and never betray the working people who have now entrusted them with power."
Why it matters here. The clip lands as Democrats prepare for the majority and as Republicans, including President Trump, talk of vetoes and investigations. Our earlier reports covered what a Democratic Congress means for Trump's agenda and the early jockeying for 2028.
What we could not check. This post summarizes Breitbart's written account of a video. We did not watch the segment, so we cannot vouch for tone, context or anything left out, and Breitbart's account of the broadcast is its own.
