Days before the Nov. 3 election, the man who was once Democrats' Maine Senate nominee turned up on video back on the water, Breitbart News reports.

The clip. Breitbart says a New York Post reporter approached Graham Platner after he paddled a kayak to shore, and posted the video Thursday. We are summarizing Breitbart's description and did not watch the video ourselves. Platner is quoted as asking, "Who the f--k are you weirdos?" Asked what he was up to, he said: "What the f--k does it look like I'm up to? I'm being an oyster farmer." He added that it "just seems to be, like, life man," and said of oystering since he left the race: "It goes the way it always goes, friend." Breitbart says he did not answer questions about the Nov. 3 election and drove away.

The background. Platner dropped out in July after accusations that he sexted women who were not his wife, was violent with ex-lovers, and faced a rape allegation. Breitbart says he admitted the sexting and denied the other allegations. He also drew backlash for a Nazi Death's Head tattoo, which he later had covered. Breitbart says he claimed he got it while intoxicated with fellow Marines and did not know the symbol's meaning. His replacement, state Sen. Troy Jackson, is battling incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

The Post's take. Breitbart quotes the Post as saying Platner built his campaign on a working-class image despite being "a son of privilege" who attended a prestigious New England prep school, and that his only oyster client was his mother's restaurant.

The neighbors. Dunbar Store owner Josh Winer in Sullivan, Maine, told the Post Platner looks "a whole lot more healthy" and is "just a regular person again." A fruit seller said: "He's not a favorite around here. Especially with the women."

Note for readers: Breitbart's headline uses the label "accused rapist." Platner denies the rape allegation, and Breitbart's account does not say he has been charged with anything. The quotes come through Breitbart's account of the Post's video.
