Video: Dan Crenshaw and Jamie Raskin Clash on CNN Over Insider Trading and Who Lost the Midterms, With Host Dana Bash Calling It a 'Debate of Issues'

A clip from CNN's 'Election Day in America,' posted by Breitbart with a transcript. Crenshaw predicts Trump will back an insider trading ban. Raskin says the administration is about insider trading. Neither gives evidence in the excerpt.

Breitbart posted a clip of Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, and Jamie Raskin, D-Md., arguing on CNN on Wednesday. We relied on Breitbart's written transcript, not the video.

The exchange. Crenshaw said: "I bet they're willing to work with Trump on this after the midterms." Raskin asked whether Trump "wants to stop insider trading in the Executive Branch." Crenshaw: "I think he'd vote for it. Yeah." Raskin: "You think he would? Let's mark that down. Because their whole administration is about insider trading."

The turn. Crenshaw said Raskin was missing the point. Raskin replied, "you guys lost the election because you missed the point," and told Crenshaw to "get your last few words in before you go back to Texas." He added that Republicans "didn't want to pass anything, you just wanted to support Donald Trump's corruption."

The close. Crenshaw: "What does that even mean? Stop talking." Raskin said it means something to the American people, and told him to look at the election results. Crenshaw asked whether Raskin could do anything "but talking just in talking points," and said he was having "actual policy discussions." CNN anchor Dana Bash said that, as heated as it got, "it is actually nice to hear the debate of issues and ideas, because we don't hear that enough."

What the excerpt does not say. Breitbart's text does not say which bill Crenshaw means. We read "this" as a proposal on insider trading, but the transcript begins mid-exchange, so we cannot confirm it.

Why it matters here. Corruption ranked high with voters in polls the Caller has cited, and Democrats are preparing oversight, which we covered earlier. This clip shows how the two sides will talk about it.

What we could not check. We did not watch the video. We cannot confirm tone, timing or anything that came before or after the excerpt. Raskin's accusation about the administration is a claim, with no evidence offered in this clip.
