A progressive leader makes his case for Democratic candidates on cable TV, in a clip Breitbart posted Wednesday.

The setting. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360." We summarize the transcript Breitbart published and did not watch the video ourselves.

On the race. Sanders said: "I think it's going to be a close election. I think Abdul is going to win." That is a reference to Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan. He said progressives are doing well because they are willing to "stand up to the oligarchs."

On inequality. He said "there is something wrong when the top 1% in America owns more wealth than the bottom 93%," and that Elon Musk "owns more wealth than the bottom 53%." He said billionaires "increasingly control our media and are trying to buy our political system."

On Trump. Sanders said: "I happen to think... that Trump is extremely dangerous." He said the campaign is about "ending a rubber stamp House and a rubber stamp Congress and a rubber stamp Senate, and finally holding Donald Trump accountable." He added that what Democrats do if they take over must be "much more than taking on Trump."

Note for readers: these are Sanders's statements and predictions. The wealth figures are his, and we did not check them. To hear him in full, watch at the link below.
