# Vance Uses Migrant Caravan Video to Argue 'The Border Gets Flooded' When Democrats Win, and Urges a Republican Vote Tuesday

The vice president shared a Julio Rosas report in which migrants in southern Mexico said they were waiting for Democrats to win. Breitbart notes local reports say some migrants are now weighing whether to settle in Mexico instead.

Vice President JD Vance is tying the border to Tuesday's vote, Breitbart News reports.

The post. On Friday Vance wrote on X, "When Democrats get elected, the border gets flooded." He went on: "No one understands that better than the murderers, rapists, and drug runners south of our border. Vote Republican next Tuesday." His message went with a report by independent journalist Julio Rosas.

The video. Rosas said another migrant caravan left southern Mexico in October. Some migrants he interviewed said they hoped Democratic gains in Congress would push the United States away from President Trump's immigration policies. "Everybody [is] waiting for the Democrats to win," one said.

The warning. Breitbart says the Trump administration is telling migrants heading north that they will not be allowed in. After an earlier October caravan, the Department of Homeland Security said there was "absolutely ZERO chance" the group would be admitted.

The other side of the picture. Breitbart also reports that local coverage of caravans leaving southern Mexico this month described groups that included families with children and people who had been deported before. Some wanted to reunite with relatives in the U.S., and others planned to stay in Mexico and look for work. Migrants interviewed by the Mexican paper Diario del Soconusco acknowledged that Trump's policies had made it harder to reach the United States, and some said they were thinking of settling in Mexican cities where friends or relatives could help them find jobs.

Note for readers: the quotes from migrants come through Rosas and Breitbart, and they are a handful of voices, not a count of what caravan members think. Vance's wording, including his description of people south of the border, is a campaign message. Our earlier stories on the caravans and on Rosas' reporting are on the site.
