A federal grand jury in Utah has indicted a 22-year-old man accused of threatening to blow up a synagogue. Fox News reports that agents who searched his home say they found six functional pipe bombs.

The charges. Skyler AJ Rose, of Ogden, was indicted Wednesday on multiple federal counts, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Utah. They include possession of an unregistered destructive device, threatening to kill or injure people and destroy a building with an explosive, and attempting to commit a hate crime. He is also charged with receipt and possession of child sexual abuse material, which prosecutors say turned up on his phone. His first appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23 in federal court in Salt Lake City.

The case. Prosecutors say that on Dec. 23, 2025, Rose made several threatening posts on social media, one reading "I wanna blow up a synagogue." Investigators traced the posts to an IP address at his home. The FBI asked Ogden City police to help, and a visit confirmed the account was his. A search warrant turned up six improvised explosive pipe bombs, one inert device, explosive precursors and components that could be used to build more, a cellphone and two rifles with magazines and ammunition. Prosecutors say a review of the phone showed he searched online for a synagogue near him in November 2025.

What officials said. U.S. Attorney Melissa Holyoak said: "A place of worship should be a refuge of safety, not fear." Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said the indictment "stops in its tracks an alleged plan to carry out a violent attack on a synagogue." FBI Salt Lake City Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls credited cooperation with local police.

Note for readers: an indictment is an accusation, not a conviction. Details are as reported by Fox News from prosecutors and court documents. Nobody was reported hurt.
