President Trump invited Rep. Haley Stevens, a Michigan Democrat, to join the Republican Party after she endorsed Republican Mike Rogers over her own party's nominee, Abdul El-Sayed, Breitbart's Olivia Rondeau reports.

What he said. Speaking to a rally crowd in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Trump praised Stevens. "I'm happy with what she did. She was very brave in doing it," he said, adding that he has never met her. "I'd love her to join the Republican Party, actually. I think that could happen." Earlier in the day, Breitbart says, he posted on Truth Social that Stevens showed "bravery" and called her a "Highly Respected Democrat."

The attack on El-Sayed. Breitbart says Trump went on to call El-Sayed a "jihadist" and joked that the Senate would need "a special metal detector for Abdul." He also said, "A party that hates America cannot be allowed to lead the people who built America." The report offers no evidence for the "jihadist" label, and it does not include a reply from El-Sayed's campaign.

How Stevens got here. Breitbart says Stevens withdrew her August endorsement of El-Sayed on Sunday morning.
