Anduril founder Palmer Luckey says the H-1B visa program is a corrupt sham that politicians and business leaders are afraid to fix, Breitbart News reports.

What he said. In a post on X, Luckey wrote that "everyone knows" the H-1B worker "in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers" does not meet the legal requirements. He praised Vice President JD Vance for "putting facts and stats front and center" and said the program serves none of its original or legal purposes. The abuse, he argued, is "politically suicidal" and "no immigration program can possibly survive" it. He said many executives stay silent for fear of attacks from the right for hypocrisy and from the left for supporting "this fascist administration," and that business-backed defenses are "all a sham."

Where he stands. Breitbart notes Luckey does not oppose immigration. He calls himself an advocate for "stealing the best people from other countries," and on Oct. 21 argued the U.S. needs far more people to stay ahead of China. He later said that would come from American births over 50 years or more.

The reaction. Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies said Luckey's comments give media "a news hook" and called his willingness to admit corruption important: "I'll take half a loaf." Kevin Lynn of U.S. Tech Workers said it "is normalizing the conversation." Breitbart says Vance is building a coalition for reform among officials and West Coast investors, and that his rule changes face lawsuits funded by investors and CEOs. It says Congress would have to act to reduce the annual inflow.

Numbers. Breitbart says the H-1B and H-4 work-permit programs hold about 900,000 foreign workers in U.S. white-collar jobs, with about 700,000 more in other visa programs.

Note for readers: the figures, and the claims of kickbacks, fraud and ethnic favoritism, come from Breitbart's own reporting and advocacy sources, not independent data, and we did not verify them. Breitbart also names a nationality in its criticism of managers and recruiters, which we have left out because the piece does not document it. Luckey's quotes are as Breitbart presents them. The piece includes no response from the visa industry or companies that use H-1B workers.
