# A Former Ontario School Bus Driver Who Posted a 'Lolita Line' Sign Files a Human Rights Complaint Over His Dismissal

Breitbart, citing Reduxx and the National Post, says the complaint went unnoticed for months until a publication ban surfaced it. The driver alleges discrimination over ethnic origin, gender identity and sex. No hearing is scheduled.

A case that began with a parent's video outside a Canadian elementary school has become a human rights complaint, Breitbart reports.

The complaint. The former driver, identified only by the initials L.Z., filed the complaint on March 16 with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, according to Reduxx. It alleges employment discrimination over ethnic origin, gender identity and sex. It names the bus company Landmark Bus Lines and the York Catholic District School Board. No hearing has been scheduled.

The video. In June 2025, parents filmed the driver outside St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge. The video showed the driver half inside the bus in a pink-and-white Japanese schoolgirl uniform with a short skirt and bare midriff. A sheet taped to the windshield read "Lolita Line." Breitbart notes the phrase commonly points to Vladimir Nabokov's 1955 novel about the abuse of a 12-year-old girl and, per Reduxx, evokes the sexualizing of young girls.

The fallout. The school board emailed families that outside companies handle busing in Ontario and that the company confirmed he would no longer drive students to the school.

How it surfaced. The tribunal does not post upcoming hearings online. The case came to light only because the driver asked for a publication ban, which was granted Oct. 13 and published Oct. 23, the National Post reported. The tribunal noted the driver identifies as a "transgender woman" and said the driver faced threats and discriminatory labels after the video spread. It sealed personal details. If it finds discrimination, it can order back pay, damages for injury to dignity and reinstatement, or it can dismiss a complaint with no reasonable prospect of success.

The criticism. National Post columnist Jamie Sarkonak argued the tribunal is treating the driver as the victim and that neither the board nor the company could have kept the driver on the route. She compared it with a 2022 Oakville case in which a shop teacher wore large prosthetic breasts in class.

Note for readers: the complaint is an allegation and the tribunal has made no finding. Breitbart does not quote the driver, the bus company or the school board about the complaint. We have summarized an outlet that takes a clear side, and we did not see the video.
