Nicki Minaj Calls Gov. Kathy Hochul an 'Evil Woman' and Urges New Yorkers to Vote for Bruce Blakeman; Hochul Says Trump 'Poisoned' Minaj
The rapper posted on X for Black voters and Christians to reject Hochul. The governor said she does not play games and that Minaj has been fed a vision of the country that does not match what Americans feel.
A celebrity feud has reached the New York governor's race with four days to go, Fox News Digital reports.
The posts. Rapper Nicki Minaj wrote on X Wednesday, "Kathy Hochul is an evil woman," adding that Hochul "did not denounce evil when she had the chance." She urged Black voters and Christians to turn against the governor and ended with "Vote Blakeman!" Republican Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive, is Hochul's opponent in the Nov. 3 election.
The clips. Minaj reposted a video of Hochul's 2024 remark that there were "Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word 'computer' is." Hochul apologized then, saying she "misspoke, and I regret it." She also reposted a 2025 video from True Bethel Baptist Church in which Hochul, promoting a rebate program, told the congregation, "Don't stop by the liquor store, OK? Buy something for the kids." Fox says the church's bishop defended the line at the time as part of his sermon's context.
The reply. At a campaign stop Hochul said, "I don't play games in this business. This is serious." She suggested Minaj had been shaped by her time with President Trump: "You can ask her what she's been, how she's been poisoned by Donald Trump." She said that after Trump and "MAGA world" have gone, "hopefully we can have a reawakening," and that being an outlier right now is "her choice." Fox says she also brushed off a question about a Cardi B endorsement as a celebrity rivalry.
The background. Minaj appeared with Trump at a Port Huron, Michigan, rally on Oct. 25, where she said she would back him "forever and ever." Fox notes Trump is barred by the 22nd Amendment from a third term. Fox says social media users split over Hochul's answer.
Note for readers: Minaj's words are her posts, not findings about Hochul. Fox says it asked both for comment. Our earlier stories on the Hochul and Blakeman race and on Minaj at the Michigan rally are on the site.
