Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested at least 4,170 people during a ten-day operation across Texas, the Department of Homeland Security said on Thursday. Breitbart puts that at about 417 arrests a day.

The announcement. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin made the announcement in Dallas, joined by Enforcement and Removal Operations field office directors from Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Harlingen and El Paso. "Lone Star Mission has been an incredible success," Mullin said, crediting "Texas law enforcement and our federal partners." He said the arrests included "murderers, sexual assailants, drunk drivers, and alien smugglers."

The examples DHS released:

Javier Hernandez Alcon, a Mexican national deported twice before, arrested in Liberty on Oct. 20. DHS lists convictions for burglary and illegal reentry and an arrest for capital murder.

Orlando Aguilar, a Mexican national arrested in Dallas on Oct. 24, with convictions for felony intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury and driving while intoxicated.

Ramon Antonio Martinez, a Honduran national arrested in Houston on Oct. 23. DHS says he is wanted in Honduras over the alleged killing of a man.

Gerardo Daniel Rivera-Rivera, a Mexican national arrested in Zapata County on Oct. 24, with convictions for felony sexual assault and illegal reentry.

Victor Manuel Macias-Castro, a Mexican national and alleged La Linea Cartel member, arrested in El Paso on Oct. 22, with convictions for conspiracy to transport or harbor aliens, illegal entry and illegal reentry.

Mullin's closing line: "This operation shows exactly how important our state and local partnerships are."

What to keep in mind. The totals and case details are DHS's, relayed by Breitbart. The 4,170 figure is a minimum, and DHS did not break out how many of the thousands arrested had violent records. An arrest for a crime, such as the capital murder arrest listed above, is not a conviction.
