# A Third Honduran Migrant Caravan Since September Leaves San Pedro Sula on Election Day, Some Betting a Democratic Congress Will Loosen Trump's Border Crackdown, Daily Caller Reports

The Daily Caller, citing Latin Times, says dozens set out Tuesday. A US Embassy official told them not to waste time and money on a trip 'destined to fail.' The report gives no count beyond 'dozens.'

A new migrant caravan is heading north from Honduras, and some of the people in it say the US midterms are part of the reason, the Daily Caller News Foundation reports.

What happened. Dozens of Hondurans left San Pedro Sula on Election Day, the country's third caravan since September, according to Latin Times, which the Caller cites. The Caller says participants hoped the election would create an opening to enter the United States.

Why they went. The Caller says many in the group believed a Democratic Congress could weaken President Trump's border enforcement, either by creating uncertainty at the border or by blocking new restrictions, as Latin Times reported. The outlet also cites conditions at home. A 47-year-old participant, Jimena Morazan, who traveled with five family members, told Latin Times: "Here in Honduras, we have nothing left." The Caller says Honduras has about 24 killings per 100,000 people, roughly four times the global average, and that extortion by organized crime has made survival costly.

How it is organized. The report says the caravan is loosely organized, with WhatsApp groups and TikTok videos used to share departure times, route updates and warnings about military and police.

The warning. Heide Fulton, an official at the US Embassy in Honduras, told the group: "Don't waste your time and money on a trip that is destined to fail," Latin Times reported. The Caller says the embassy has also threatened to revoke visas of caravan organizers, and that the administration has kept its hard-line policies.

Why it matters here. Democrats now hold both chambers from January, but the law on border enforcement has not changed yet, and the White House said Wednesday that mass amnesty is off the table, which we covered. We reported on an earlier caravan that DHS said had zero chance of entering.

What we could not check. The report relies on Latin Times, which we did not read, and gives no figure beyond "dozens." We cannot say how far the group will get.
