A Progressive Group's 182-Page Blueprint Lists Trump Donors and Corporate Allies as Targets for Democratic Investigations, Fox News Reports
Groundwork Collaborative's dossier, led by former Biden, Sanders and Warren aides, names companies and executives and urges looks at Trump's finances. A House Judiciary Democratic aide told Semafor it is 'one of many' such papers.
A progressive policy group has written a 182-page plan for what Democratic committees could investigate once they take over Congress, Fox News Digital reports. Fox says it obtained and analyzed the document.
Who wrote it. Groundwork Collaborative, led by former aides to President Biden and to Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Bharat Ramamurti, a former deputy director of the National Economic Council, coordinated with Groundwork on it.
What it targets. Fox says the plan maps Trump donors and corporate allies. It names Tesla, Apple, Amazon, Oracle, Trump Media and World Liberty Financial, and mentions Palantir's Alex Karp and Coinbase's Brian Armstrong by name. It floats hearings with executives from OpenAI, Meta, Google, Microsoft and Oracle. It also urges scrutiny of Trump's personal finances, including his tax arrangements and crypto businesses, and a reported settlement tied to his tax audits, including the Chicago tower audit. It suggests probing donors to the White House ballroom, his library, the inauguration and his campaign, and the Medicare AI program called WISeR. Later pages propose action on institutional housing investors, algorithmic rent-setting and corporate pricing.
What Democrats say. Ramamurti told Fox the oversight agenda is about finding out what corporations are doing and who is responsible, and what Congress can do. A House Judiciary Democratic aide told Semafor it is "one of many" such papers and said, "We all get a lot of emails." A longtime Democratic Senate staffer told Fox that majority committees already plan to focus on the president's allies and donors, but did not see the document.
Why it matters here. The paper is not an official plan and Democratic aides downplay it. It is still a map of what the left wants, and it points at business owners, not just officials.
What we could not check. We did not see the dossier, only Fox's description. Fox says some outlets reported House committees also got it, and the House aide's comment suggests it is one of several. We cannot say how much of it any committee will adopt.
