The losing candidate in Brazil's runoff is now in the United States and disputing the result, the Daily Caller reports, drawing on Reuters.

The arrival. Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro reached Miami on Tuesday. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes had ordered him to surrender his passports in connection with a money-laundering inquiry and a film-financing case. The Tuesday deadline passed with nothing handed over. He thanked Argentine President Javier Milei for help with his travel and Trump for visas for his family.

The claim. Bolsonaro first called himself Brazil's "elected president" in a letter on X, deleted it, then posted another message calling himself the country's "leader." He wrote that "the criminals who stole Brazil's election are part of a criminal organization that has established a tyranny." He also wrote, "I did not flee Brazil," and "I left Brazil, but I did not abandon the Brazilian people."

The count. Lula won 51.79% to 48.21%, a gap of about 4.43 million votes, per Latin Times. The electoral court, foreign governments and Bolsonaro's own party accepted it.

The dispute. Bolsonaro's case leans on a two-hour voting extension granted by a Lula-appointed justice after Lula allies alleged suppression in the northeast. The Caller says his own campaign also sought more time over rain in the south, and that fewer than 35,000 votes, about 0.03%, came in during the extension, per an Insper professor's analysis.

Washington. Trump dodged questions at Joint Base Andrews and repeated that Brazil held "a very strange election."

Note for readers: the claims of fraud are Bolsonaro's, and the vote figures are as reported by Reuters and Latin Times through the Daily Caller. We have not checked them.
