Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, told Fox Business that the habit behind his career is simple: "Working really, really hard. That's the truth."

The résumé. Levy has spent three decades in aviation. According to Fox Business, he began at ValuJet, co-founded Allegiant Air and served as its president, then became chief financial officer of United Airlines before launching Avelo in 2021.

His advice. Levy said the best career advice he has received is "to just not be afraid to be vulnerable," and that leaders should be genuine. He said vulnerability is sometimes read as weakness, but he sees it differently. Asked what he will not delegate, he said it is "giving bad news," because a leader should deliver "the good, the bad and the ugly" personally.

On the job itself. He pushed back on the idea that being a CEO is easy: "It's constant work. It consumes your life." He said newcomers to the airline business need to be comfortable with constant change and "some level of chaos." If he were not running an airline, he said, he could see himself in private equity or at an investment firm because he likes learning about different businesses. His first jobs were raking leaves, pulling weeds and mowing lawns.

The lighter questions. He described himself as a night owl who prefers working in the office, named "laser focused" as his least favorite buzzword, and said his team would describe him in one word: "Intense."

What to keep in mind. This is a leadership interview in a regular Fox Business series, so it has no new numbers on fares, fuel or the airline industry. We include it as a business profile and have not checked the career details against other sources.
