Thursday's U.S. sell-off has reached Asia, Fox Business reports.

The moves. South Korea's KOSPI fell more than 8 percent on Friday, triggering a temporary trading halt meant to curb volatility, Fox says, citing Reuters. It later resumed and was down about 7 percent. Japan's tech-heavy Nikkei dropped roughly 6 percent, on track for its worst day in eight months. Taiwan's benchmark index fell more than 8 percent.

The leaders down. Chipmakers and companies tied to the artificial intelligence boom took the heaviest losses. Fox gives these figures: Samsung Electronics down nearly 10 percent, SK Hynix down 11.7 percent, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company down 8.5 percent and SoftBank Group down about 11 percent.

Where the U.S. stands. Fox says U.S. futures were mixed. Nasdaq futures were up about 1.3 percent, hinting at a possible bounce for tech, while Dow futures were down 0.71 percent. On Thursday the Dow fell 1,833 points, or 3.44 percent, and the S&P 500 fell 4.36 percent. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.52 percent and entered correction territory, more than 10 percent below its October record.

The cause. Fox says investors are weighing what Democratic control of both chambers means for the market, including more regulation of AI companies and limits on data center development. President Donald Trump blamed the election results on Truth Social, writing that the market "suffered one of the Worst Days in History based on the results of the Election." He also said the country would soon be "BIGGER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE."

Why it matters here. We have covered Thursday's plunge and the White House blame. This is the first look at how the shock played overseas, and for readers with retirement savings in index funds it is the next number to watch.

What we could not check. We did not see the Reuters report or live market data, and prices move by the hour. Fox ties the sell-off to the election, but the report does not show that regulation fears are the only cause. A Friday futures reading says little about how U.S. stocks will close.
