# ABC's 'The View' Had One Conservative Guest and 21 Liberal Guests Before Election Day, a Media Research Center Study Finds

The conservative watchdog counted guests from Sept. 8 to Nov. 3. Sen. Ted Cruz was the only conservative. The MRC wants the FCC to act. ABC did not reply to Fox, and the show's own defense is that it qualifies as a bona fide news program.

ABC's "The View" invited 21 liberal guests and one conservative between the start of its season and Election Day, according to a new study by the Media Research Center, which Fox News reports.

The count. The MRC looked at Sept. 8, the season's start, through Nov. 3. It says 56 guests appeared in total. Sen. Ted Cruz was the lone conservative. The 21 liberal guests were people who criticized President Trump or Republicans. They included Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly, Hillary Clinton and entertainers such as Michael Douglas, Billy Crystal and Jamie Lee Curtis. Sen. Thom Tillis, a retiring Republican, was counted as liberal because he came on to discuss his book criticizing Trump.

The method. The MRC says guests had to express liberal or conservative views on the show to be counted, so a celebrity who did not talk politics was left out.

The history. Fox adds that the show drew scrutiny in 2025 after hosting 128 liberal guests and two conservatives. This year Vice President JD Vance and former Trump legal spokeswoman Alina Habba have appeared. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is due next week.

The complaint. MRC president David Bozell said, "ABC has learned nothing from the FCC's continued scrutiny," and called for the Federal Communications Commission to hold ABC accountable. The show has faced an FCC probe over equal-time rules for candidates. ABC argues "The View" qualifies for a bona fide news exemption that has stood for more than 20 years. Fox says ABC did not respond to its request for comment.

Why it matters here. The MRC is a conservative advocacy group, and it designed the count. The numbers do show how the guest list leaned, but the classification of each guest is the group's.

What we could not check. We did not see the MRC study or the show's guest list, so the counts are the group's. We did not review how it classified Tillis or others. We do not know ABC's answer to the study.
